Adrift Games

Adventure Development and Runner - Interactive Fiction Toolkit.  This is currently the most popular game engine.

Adrift version 3.9 Games may not always work with the Adrift 4 runner so be sure to grab the 3.9 runner for these games.

TADS Games

TADS stands for the “Text Adventure Development System.” It’s a complete programming language and authoring environment for writing text adventures.

AGT Games

AGT (The Adventure Game Toolkit), is a multiplatform interpreter which was quite popular in the earlier years but has been pretty much abandoned recently.

Quest Games

A Windows spesific interpreter which is strong flexible and good language, like a cross between TADS and ADRIFT!

Inform Games

A multiplatform interpreter. Since its invention (by Graham Nelson in 1993), Inform has been used to design some hundreds of works of interactive fiction, in eight languages.

MSDOS Games

Standalone DOS/MSDOS programs will be in this area! Very few IF or AIF games are released as this, although you may stumble upon a few old games of this type.
